Munster Strokeplay:
Two titles and two silver medals came the club’s way on home turf last weekend as our Club Secretary Damien Fleming and Ciara Lowe’s achievements took pride of place on Sunday. Damien won the Senior Mens event for a second time with a score of 26 under par, overcoming a moment of worry at the 12th hole in the final round for a four stroke victory as Ciara completed a seven-shot turnaround in the Intermediate Ladies event coming from three behind at the halfway stage to win by four as there were two silver medals for the club on Saturday. Dan Broderick came second to Listowel’s Ajay Barrett in the Intermediate Mens event as James Foley produced a great final round in the Junior Mens event to finish second in that event. A massive thanks to our Grounds Committee for their efforts over the last month or so, especially in the midst of the heatwave to present the course in the condition it was as we also thank Shirley and Helena for looking after all the catering over the weekend. Our thanks also to Dr Crokes and Fitzgerald Stadium for providing us with extra car parking facilities over the weekend.
Community Games:
Well done to both Aodhan O’Halloran and Ella Lowe on their involvement in the Kerry successes at the National Finals in Erry in Offaly last Saturday.
National Strokeplay Qualifiers:
Best Wishes to those from the club heading to Listowel on Friday evening for the Intermediate and Junior Qualifiers and best wishes also to John McGrath in heading to Cunnigar in Dungarvan on Sunday for the Regional Senior Qualifying event. A reminder that dress code in in force for these events.
Kerry Inter-County Teams:
Best Wishes to those who are taking part in the concluding trials for the Intermediate and Junior Mens sides in Riverdale in Nenagh on Saturday.
Munster U16 Strokeplay and Inter-County:
Best Wishes to our club members heading to this event
in ESB in Cork this weekend as well as those that are also representing Kerry
in the two Inter-County teams.
Ricky Kelly:
We look forward to welcoming everyone in Killarney again for our Ricky Kelly Memorial event (sponsored by the Tatler Jack Bar) over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Full details will be available on our Facebook page. The presentation of prizes will take place on the Sunday evening at the Club Barbeque.
Chairman’s Prize:
Sean Kelly’s re-arranged prize will take place on Friday evening August 28th we asked everyone to note.
